Enhanced Connectivity and Performance

PCIe104-MAX is an advanced hardware solution that harnesses the capabilities of the AMD Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC family. Built-in the PCIe104 form factor, this board adheres to the latest specifications, ensuring compatibility and seamless integration into your system. With its superior performance and multiple PCIe interfaces, PCIe104Z empowers developers to create high-performance computing, digital communication, image processing, and AR/VR applications.

Flexible PCIe Interfaces for Versatile Configurations

PCIe104-MAX offers four Gen 2.0, x1 lane PCIe interfaces through a switch, allowing the connection of up to four PCIe104 cards to the ARM on the Zynq, which acts as the host. Additionally, the board features two Gen 4.0, x4 lane PCIe interfaces connected to the PL parts, enabling them to function as both hosts and endpoints. This flexibility provides developers with a range of possibilities for configuring their systems and expanding their capabilities.

Customizable Solutions with FMC-based Modules

The PCIe104-MAX platform supports standard FMC-based modules for development purposes. For applications that require additional real estate for FMC auxiliary modules, developers have the option to create a PCIe104-sized card that can connect to the FMC connector on the main board. This solution effectively resolves heat and space issues, making PCIe104Z particularly suitable for high-end embedded applications with custom FMCs. Here are the changed features of PCIe104-MAX compared to PCIe104Z rev1.5 (current):

– 2 Harting Ix industrial connectors (10 pin header removed and a second PHY was added for the second connector)
– taller FMC connector to accommodate the ethernet connectors
– 1 USB2.0 and one USB3.0 (backwards compatible) mapped to the PCIe104 connector (10 pin header removed)
– SATA signals mapped to PCIe104 connector
– OSC changed to transko PN
– PHY resets moved to PS
– USB REF CLK OSC changed to 12MHz part
– Removed DA16 from USB PHY
– Relocated DP AUX, UART0, I2C0, TO PL UART1

Features of the original PCIe104Z are:

  • Can use extra-large FMC modules for custom applications
  • Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoC in C1156 package (XCZU7EV-2FFVC1156E / XCZU7EG/ XCZU11EG / XCZU7CG)
  • Up to 4GB of DDR4 to PL
  • Flash memory for user application bitstream
  • Micro SD card for running OS and embedded applications (attached to PS part).

  • Two x4 lane PCIe Gen4 to PL
  • FMC expansion site with 10 GTH  at 16.3Gb/s transceivers and 80 LVDS IO pairs
  • Video Codec Unit H.265/H.264 with XCZU7EV
  • GTH, GTY, 100EMAC, and  Interlaken, when fitted with XCZU11EG
  • for the ARM processors within the Zync following interfaces are available:
    • Display port
    • 2x USB 2.0 connected to PCIe104 connector
    • Up to 8 GB of SDRAM via DDR4 ICs
    • 1x USB 3.0 (USB 2.0 compatible) via cable. Both device and host mode are supported.
    • 1 x SATA
